The Dodgers and Walker Buehler rebounded from their cold stretch as Buehler shutout the Padres over 6 innings and the Dodger bats exploded for 9 runs in a shutout against the Padres.
Buehler struck out 11 batters in 6 innings and allowed just 4 hits. But he did walk 2 Padres as well as hitting Manuel Margot on the head in the second inning. After taking a few minutes to regroup, Margot responded by stealing second.
“I don’t think it was one of the better games stuff-wise,” said Buehler. You never feel good about [hitting a batter]. Obviously, there’s no intent to hit a guy in the head. That’s not the way I play.”
The Dodger offense also came alive for the first time in a week as they scored 9 runs against the Padres.
Joc Pederson and A.J. Pollock bookended the scoring with solo homers and the Dodgers played pass the batton to score their 7 other runs. They blew the game open in the 5th inning when they plated 5 runs.
The Dodgers have a chance to win the series on Wednesday at 6:10 pm as Kenta Maeda and Trey Wingenter face off. Maeda is 8-8 with a 4.13 ERA and Wingenter is 1-3 with a 4.60 ERA. The Dodger offense will need to be strong again as Maeda usually gives up 2-3 runs per start.
