Chris Taylor may have struggled through the first couple months of the season, but as the weather heats up in June, so has he. On Wednesday night against the Giants, Taylor went 3-4 with 2 homers and 4 RBIs to lead the Dodgers to a 9-2 win. Cody Bellinger and Kyle Garlick also homered and the bullpen allowed 2 runs over 8 innings after Rich Hill left with an injury after the first.
Taylor was given a daunting task when Corey Seager went down with a hamstring issue. But Taylor has stepped up and he did it in a big way last night. It started in the first inning when Taylor hit a 3-run homer and it continued with his solo homer in the 5th inning.
Another Dodger who had a memorable night is Kyle Garlick. He was given his third career start and he made the most of it. In the second inning, Garlick hit a fastball over the center field wall for his first career homer.
But perhaps even more impressive is what the bullpen was able to do. When Hill left the game after just one inning, the Dodgers asked their relievers to give them 8 strong innings. The bullpen allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits to secure the win. Dylan Floro, Yimi García, and Joe Kelly each pitched 2 innings and only García and Caleb Furgeson allowed a run.
After a long day for the Dodger bullpen, Julio Urías will make a spot start against Madison Bumgarner as the Dodgers go for the series win. Urías is 3-2 on the year with a 3.05 ERA and Bumgarner is 3-6 with a 3.87 ERA. The game will begin at 7:10 pm.
