Melky Cabrera drew first blood in the top of the first inning when he hit a solo home run off of Ryu. Ryu tried to throw a curveball in a 1-1 count, but left it up in the zone and Cabrera made him pay. He turned on the pitch and hit it into the all-you-can-eat-pavilion behind left field.
Yasmani Grandal drove in the Dodgers’ only runs of the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning. He hit it back to the mound and into center field. After Grandal’s single, the Dodgers went 0-6 with runners in scoring position.
The White Sox re-took the lead in the fourth inning. Ryu retired the first two batters he faced, then allowed a two-out single to Matt Davidson and a two-run home run to Yolmer Sanchez. Ryu was trying to get ahead in the count by throwing a fastball, but he missed his target and threw the ball too high. Sanchez turned on the pitch and hit it into the lawn-seating over the right field wall.
The Sox added to their lead in the sixth and eight innings. In the sixth inning with Todd Frazier at third, Davidson hit a deep fly ball to Franklin Gutierrez in left field. It was deep enough for Frazier to score and the White Sox had a 4-2 lead. The Sox added one more run in the eighth inning on a home run by Frazier. He was given a fastball by Andrew Istler and crushed it over the left-field wall.
