Kershaw Strikes Outs 11 Over 6 Scoreless

Clayton Kershaw struck out eleven batters over six scoreless innings and Chase Utley hit a two-run home run in the Dodgers’ 10-2 victory over the Rangers at Surprise Stadium.

Utley’s hit his homer off of Rangers’ starter Dillon Gee, who is trying to get a spot on the Rangers’ starting rotation. Gee pitched 3 /13 innings and allowed seven runs (four earned) on nine hits.

Utley started at first base for the first time this spring, and batted second, behind Logan Forsythe. Utley went 3-4 and brought his spring batting average to .405. Forsythe who was hitting leadoff, went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Utley lost his starting job at second base to Forsythe and is now trying different positions around the diamond.

Rob Segedin hit his third home run of the spring in the eighth inning after coming into the game to replace Forsythe. Segedin is hitting .450 this spring.

The Rangers got on the board in the bottom of the ninth after Joe Broussard replaced Brandon Morrow. Broussard inherited a runner on first base, then allowed a home run to Drew Robinson on the first pitch he threw.

Trevor Oaks will get the start against the Diamondbacks on Friday at Camelback Ranch. the game will start at 1:05 pm PT. Adrián González will return to the lineup after being put on hold with a flare up of elbow tendonitis.
